Bumamuru’s head coach resigns after angry fans’ threats.

The team’s flawed performance is believed to have fueled fans’ fury.

Bumamuru is the first team to have played in the Primus League. It is located in Cibitoke province in North-western of Burundi.

Olivier Niyungeko nicknamed Mutombola resigned from coaching duties after angry fans threatened to assault him, he told Akeza.net a local media outlet.

“i fear for my life”, he said.

The team has dropped points from the begining of the second part of the primus league, loosing its stamina it started with in the season.

The latest loss being one (1) to nil (0) to Aigle Noir on Thursday.

On the same day second Top Junior lost the tie to Athletico New Oil 3 to 2.

Fans for the past weeks did not stop expressing their anger to the coach for mis-fortunes taunted by bad results fall on his shoulders.

Now three weeks at the end of the season, Bumamuru has lost 6 games, drawed 3, and only won 3.

Primus League standings table

The team has accumulated 48 points and is head-to-head with top teams among which Top Junior with same points.

Flambeau du Centre is not far with 47 along with Athletico New Oil with 48 points on day 27 of the Primus league.

It is not understandable how we lost all these games while other teams putting pressure on us, a fan said in video that went live on social media.

Alleging Mutombola of starting unable players or changing  good games to worse.

“For those who follow our players, there is time we have good games but unexpectedly it changes, then finish by a loss”, she said.

With three games left to end this season, Bumamuru lifting the trophy remains uncertain.

Bumamuru’s remaining fixtures

In the first phase Bumamuru played 15 games of which the team won 11, lost 1, and drawed thrice (3).

Mutombola had 36 points out of 45. Today, he resigned with 12 out of 36.

Meanwhile he left the team in the quarter finals of La Coupe du President and the first in the Primus League.
